More detail on this person: Terrence Steven Zaiko, age 82, of Knoxville, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana in 1937. He worked as a Corrections Officer in Knoxville from 1983 until he retired in 2008. Terrence spent thirteen years in the military, starting at the lowest rank in the Air Force as an airman. He completed flight training in Virginia and became a Huey and Chinook aviator during the Vietnam War in 1967 and flew in combat. He was stationed in England for a time before returning to the States. Terrence was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Captain. He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Ann Rose Zaiko, and daughter, Susan Zaiko. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Zaiko; sons, Tom Zaiko and daughter-in-law, Linda Zaiko of Florida and Terry Zaiko, Jr.; sister, Sandra Zaiko of Indiana; second wife, Sheryl Zaiko of Texas; daughter, Lisa Thompson and son-in-law Andy Thompson; granddaughter Kaitlin Thompson; and grandson, Drew Thompson. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors, Dr. Alan Smith officiating.
