More detail on this person: Bobby Dale Zimmerman, 84, Crofton, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with the Rev. Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral home. A native of Cainsville, Mo., he was born Jan. 14, 1933, the son of the late Forrest and Mary Richardson Zimmerman. He was a retired U.S. Army helicopter pilot who served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a bronze star for his service. He was a member of the 116th Aviation Company Association "The Hornets" and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association. He later became a farmer and owner of the Crofton Eat Shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ellen Rucker Zimmerman; his sons, Billy (Laura) Zimmerman, Michigan, and Audie (Cynthia) Zimmerman, Florida; his daughters, Bonnie (Terry) Cansler, Crofton and Sondra (Gregory) Marston, Illinois; his brother, Forrest O. Zimmerman Jr., Missouri; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
