More detail on this person: Phenix City, AL- Army Major Lubert E Wing, of Phenix City Al, passed away 8/23/2018 at his home with his beloved wife Betty by his side. He served in WWII with the 17th Airborne Division, Korea and the Vietnam era, proudly serving his country for 59 years. In WWII, Maj Wing deployed during the Battle of the Bulge and jumped across the Rhine into enemy territory during Operation Varsity. He retired from the Army in 1965 and 3 days later went to work as a helicopter flight instructor at Fort Rucker AL for an additional 35 years. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter in law Gail Clement (Joseph), son Tanny Wing, his 2 granddaughters Crystal Trawick (Johnson) along with great grandson and Lisa Wing, grandson's Jason Wing, Tim Clement, Mike Clement and nephews Bertrum Moody and Kenny Wing. A Celebration of Life Service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. EDT Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL. Burial will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
