More detail on this person: Michael S Ward March 12 2022 Michael S. Ward was born on January 28, 1945, and he was drafted when he was attending college and married. He was in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Division, 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion, Bravo Company (blue squares on the side of the helicopters "Killer Spades"). Michael fought in the Tet Offensive; during the Battle of Hué his Unit provided air support and patrolled Highway 1. He was part of the 1st Cavalry contingent that provided assistance to, and fought with, the embattled United States Marines at Khe Sanh. He also participated in Operation Delware, and his Unit sustained heavy losses in the Battle of A Shau. Michael was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. Services will be arranged with Arlington Nation Cemetery. Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Michael S. Ward.
