More detail on this person: NEWPORT NEWS - Larry E. Willer, Sr., 78, passed away April 10, 2017. A native of Iowa, he resided on the Peninsula for over 40 years. He joined the Navy and then enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he attended flight school and then was deployed to Vietnam for two tours. He was enlisted for a total of 26 years. He retired as a W4 with numerous medals. Larry was an active member of the Denbigh Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda "Kimberly" Armenta. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Merle B. Willer; son, Larry E. Willer, Jr. and wife, Susan of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Suzette "Jackie Zimmerman" Willer of Newport News, and Jessica Wilson and husband, Chad of Virginia Beach and four grandchildren, Gregory Armenta and Alex, Kacey and Abbie Willer. The family will receive friends Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel. Published in Daily Press on Apr. 16, 2017
