More detail on this person: Paul Joseph Wenzel, age 87, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, passed away on September 18, 2024, at Brightview Assisted Living of Bel Air in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Raymond and Marion (Murphy) Wenzel and the beloved husband of the late Irma Wenzel. Paul was a soldier's soldier. He retired from the US Army after 37 years of dedicated service, during which he earned numerous combat decorations such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star w/ Valor, and a Purple Heart for his bravery. He held a master's degree in science and business administration from Strayer University in Virginia. Paul and Irma were married on December 17, 1957, in Germany. Paul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the Military Officers Association, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. Paul was known for his passion for woodworking. He made numerous wood cars, planes, and other items for his grandchildren. His contributions to his country and community, along with his love for crafting, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Paul is survived by his daughter, Carmen Marie Francis; sister, Carol; brother, Chuck; grandchildren, Ashley, Alexa, and Connor; great grandchildren, Hazel, and Dalton; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was preceded in death by sons, Paul Wenzel Jr., son, and Michael Wenzel, brothers, Raymond, and Jimmy. Contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project
