More detail on this person: William F. "Bill" Voth, 73, of Enterprise, AL, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services for Mr. Voth will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Enterprise, AL with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Hartford City Cemetery in Hartford, AL with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sorrells Funeral Home, Enterprise, AL. Bill was born November 3, 1944 in Fargo, ND to the late Richard D. and Mary Voth. Bill was a military veteran, retiring from the United States Army after 27 years of service. Bill's military career started in the ROTC program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. It caught him by surprise that he actually loved military life, and this admiration for the military led him to a long, notable military career with numerous accolades including the Distinguished Flying Cross. After military life, he pursued his original career path as a biology teacher teaching in both Enterprise City Schools and Daleville City Schools for ten years. Following retirement after two successful careers, Bill dedicated his time and passion supporting organizations like the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, Patriot Guard, and VFW with countless hours of volunteering. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Enterprise, AL and the Knights of Columbus of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill is survived by his loving and faithful wife of almost 48 years, Phyllis Lou Voth; his three daughters: Christine Meitzler (Lee) of Enterprise, AL, Cindy Schmidt (Jason) of Dothan, AL, and Holly West of Montgomery, AL; his grandchildren: Paige and Haley Lindbak, Scott and Justin Meitzler, and Will, Ryan, and Sarah Schmidt; a brother, David Voth (Barbara) of Evergreen, CO; a sister; Mary Ann Quenette of Salinas, CA; and a brother, Michael Voth (Joyce) of CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank the Encompass Health (Home Health and Hospice) nursing staff for their compassion and loving care during this difficult time, and family and friends for their constant support and kindness.
