More detail on this person: Thomas Earl Uptagrafft, Sr., age 71, born in Mobile, grew up in Saraland and resided in Chickasaw prior to moving to Stockton, AL died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. In 1997 he retired after 31 years as a Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Army. Served as a Combat Helicopter Pilot in Vietnam from July 29, 1966 to November 1, 1967 where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and in Desert Storm from September 27, 1990 to July 4, 1991 where he received the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award). He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Patti S. Bourne Uptagrafft of Stockton, AL; his children, Thomas Earl (Lauren) Uptagrafft of Mobile, AL, Natalie (Barry) Guy of Foley, AL, Robin (Wayne) Kindrix of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel (Jennifer) Henderson of Prairieville, LA and Nicole (Joshua) Ewing of Mobile, AL; his mother, Mary Uptagrafft of Chickasaw, AL; three brothers, Mike (Susie) Uptagrafft of Savannah, Ga, Steve Uptagrafft of Cullman, AL and John Uptagrafft of Mobile, AL; one sister, Katherine Bailey of Birmingham, AL; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Mae Jones Uptagrafft; his father, Thomas Gordon Uptagrafft and two brothers, Darryl Uptagrafft and Wayne Wade. Burial will be held at a later date at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
