More detail on this person: John William Ulakey, 77, of Glasgow, KY, died at his residence on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 5:00 am. He was born February 22, 1945, in Carlinville, IL to Steve Ulakey & Wilma Heck Ulakey. He married Nancy Rothermel Ulakey on April 25, 1981. He was retired after having been an internal auditor for May Department Stores. He was a veteran of the US Army after having served during Vietnam and being a Captain. John was a member of the VFW and K of C. He is survived by his spouse, Nancy Ulakey of Glasgow, KY, children, Kari Presnell, Lynn Sorbie, Kathy Fellin, Sarah Ulakey, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and sister, Charlotte Rupert. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steven Warren Ulakey and sister, Margarite Louise Pianfetti. Friends may call on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Joseph's Church, Benld at 11 am. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie, IL. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans. Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com. John was a pilot and served in the later stages of the war. A solid and friendly Trooper, he always helped with our reunions.
