More detail on this person: I am sad to announce the passing of Roger Thompson on 27 August 2022 from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Roger was born in Indiana but move to Reno, NV at the age of 10. He joined the Army from Nevada and was in WORWAC Class 70-1. Roger was with the 155 AHC in Ban Me Thuot in 1970 but went to the 282 AHC when the 155th stood down. Roger held the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star for valor, and numerous Air Medals. Roger left the Army in 1974 and had a tobacco farm in North Carolina for a short time. Seeking to return to flying, Roger left NC and worked for a temporarily at Petroleum Helicopters before moving to Air Logistics where he remained for 25 years. He worked overseas for ALI in Central America, South America, and Kuwait. When he retired, Roger was an ATP Captain on the Sikorsky S-76 and the Sikorsky S-92. After retirement, Roger invested in real estate and a ship repair company in Patterson, Louisiana.. He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Roberta. He is survived by his first wife, Sue, and his third wife, Jeannie, plus 2 daughters, 1 son, numerous grandchildren, 1 sister, and numerous cousins. I flew with Roger on many occasions and he was a delight to fly with. His humor and positive attitude made the long flights with him a special time. He frequently had crews to his home in Patterson for meals and camaraderie. Roger loved the VHPA Reunions and attended as many as he could. He attended the Air Log get together in Plain Dealing, LA each year and will be GREATLY missed as the remaining few of us gather this year. Kenny Bunn Life Member VHPA President 1994-95
