More detail on this person: Robert Thales Shipman passed away on Monday, September 28th, 2020. Robert was born on September 9th, 1943 in Kissimmee, Florida. Robert attended Deland High School before enlisting in the United States Army where he served for ten years with two tours in the Vietnam War. Robert's next career was with the Florida Fish and Game Commission where he retired after 23 years of service. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Shipman; his children, Kathleen Shipman, Carol Jones (Roger), Bobby Shipman (Deborah), and Karen Shipman (Cricket); brother, Aaron Guess (Holly) and sister, Edith Adkins; his grandchildren, Joseph Shipman (Michelle) , Jesse Jones, Amanda Shipman, Johnathan Shipman, Brittney Shipman, and Katie Jones; four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Skylar, April, and Dustin; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews along with his favorite sister-in-law, Rose Vetere. Robert was predeceased by his mother, Madlyn Guess and stepfather, George Guess; father, Cecil Shipman; brothers, Jimmy, Raymond and Billy Joe Shipman; and sister, Janice Daniels. Robert was a member of Tupelo Lodge in Wewahitchka #289, Panama City Scottish Rite, the Panama City Shaddai Shriners, and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to either Covenant Care Hospice or to National Brain Tumor Society. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at Westside Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M. (CST) in Wewahitchka, FL with Brother Derrick Gerber officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. prior to the service.
