More detail on this person: 3 Fort Wolters Lieutenants Killed - Special to the Express News Yoakum - A single-engine private plane crashed in bad weather four miles north of here early Saturday, killing three Fort Wolters Army Lieutenants and the wife of one of the officers. Killed were 2nd LT Simpson Ray, 23, and his wife, Susan Lander Ray, 19, both of Houston; 2nd Lt. Michael J Radulovich, 21 and 2nd LT. John Gary Popovich, 25. Fort Wolters is at Mineral Wells. The couple had been married only about a month, and the four were on a flight from Palacios to Rockport. Sheriff Ronnie Dodds said the Piper Cherokee plane struck a power line in misty rain and crashed in brushy range country about 50 feet off a graveled road. First word of the crash came from members of an unidentified farm family whole home is close by. Dodds said "The plane was broken up pretty badly-wreckage scattered over a quarter mile - but it didn't burn." 2LT Ray is the son of Simpson Ray I and Lucy Loftin.
