More detail on this person: Robert Dawes Price July 12, 1934 - September 28, 2021 Obituary for Robert Dawes Price Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert Dawes Price, 87 years old, died peacefully on the 28th of September 2021 in Tampa, Florida. He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Gunni Nilsson Price. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Davis Price, father, and Hazel Marie Price, mother; brother Thomas Davis Price, Jr. and his wife, Saime Price. Bob was very fond of all his Swedish relatives. Bob was born in Boston, graduated from Northeastern University, then served over 24 years in the US Army. During his service as a Signal Officer and Army Aviator, Bob had one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. After the Vietnam war he had an assignment with NATO in Denmark for three years. During his career, he also served on twelve Army posts within the US. He was proud to be an Army Aviator, commanding an Aviation unit in Vietnam, making Lieutenant Colonel and later commanding a 500- person unit at Fort Rucker, Alabama, the home of Army Aviation. Bob was responsible for the Post Communications and operation of 23 air traffic control towers at airfields for the training of Army Aviators. Bob was awarded a Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Command Medal, Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device and 4 Oak Leaf Clusters , National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon retiring in 1981 at Fort Rucker, Alabama, he and his wife moved to Brandon, Florida, where he became a wood craftsman and Gunni an artist. He was able to travel to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Hawaii while serving in the Far East, and he and his wife enjoyed the sights in the United States and Europe. Bob had a wonderful life and was loved by everyone, and he will be missed. Military Honors for Bob will be conducted at Florida National Cemetery Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11 AM.
