More detail on this person: Perkins, R. Ray USA, Captain. Flight class 71-4 RVN: 71-72, C Troop 3/17th Air Cav. Call Sign: Longknife 25. Ray passed away on March 26, 2019 at his home in Richland, OR. Ray was born June 8, 1947 in Silverton, Oregon. He graduated from Lebanon, Oregon high school in 1965. After graduation he spent the first 5 years as an enlisted man up to the rank of E6. The next 5 years was as a commissioned infantry officer by way of OCS at Fort Benning, GA. He flew in Vietnam with rank of 1st LT. Ray was proud of his military career and his time in Vietnam. He said not bad for someone with just a high school diploma. Ray also served in Korea 66-67 on the DMZ. Ray is survived by is Son Raymond, grandson Sammy Perkins, and proceeded in death his son James.
