More detail on this person: Virl Dean Martin, 90, died early Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home. He was a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer and served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. Later, he was employed by the old First National Bank. Virl was a longtime member of Fern Creek Masonic Lodge #955, Kosair Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite and West Broadway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sons, Jim and Bryan Martin and is survived by his wife, Annelle Martin; daughter, Cindy Martin; grandchildren, Jennifer Prible (Jon) and Jared Martin (Jen Toney, fiancée); great grandchildren, Jayden Martin, Reagan Prible and Mason Prible; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He had great love for God, country, and his family. He enjoyed many years of square dancing and the friendships he made along the way. He enjoyed all sports and had season tickets to the Redbirds for years. His funeral is 10:30am Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY with burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
