More detail on this person: ohn Sharon "Shack" McLeod Sr. of Bennettsville, S.C., was commissioned in the Army in 1953 after graduating from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg. That same year, he married Lillie Pearl Gibson of Sanford, Fla. During his 30-year career, John attained the rank of colonel and received the Legion of Merit and Purple Heart. He was executive director of the Private Industry Council of Orange and Osceola Counties and retired from there in 1995. He was a member of The Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and the Orlando ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out). John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, three sons, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. July 2 at Belle Isle Community Church in Orlando. Burial will be 1 p.m. July 3 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. .
