More detail on this person: FORT WORTH ? Donald Harold "Don" Lipper, 78 passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019. Don was born July 13, 1941, in the Texas Panhandle (Dumas, Texas) to Harold Ward and Irene Lipper.He served his nation honorably as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, and was a proud graduate of West Texas State University (West Texas A&M).He was a longtime resident of Fort Worth while working in the property and casualty insurance business in both Dallas and Fort Worth. Don returned from the War in Vietnam to start a family with his bride, Patricia "Pat" (Wright) Lipper in the mountains of Colorado beginning in Evergreen, and later settling in Denver. In 1976, Don and Pat moved with their two sons, Chris and Byron, to Plano, Texas before settling in Southwest Fort Worth in 1980. Don was a man marked by his faith in Christ and his loyalty to his family.His gentle spirit was noted in stark contrast to his harsh experience while serving the 9th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Vietnam.Don was a warrior while at war, and upon his return home, a quiet warrior raising his family.His light sense of humor and commitment to peace along with his dedication to his LORD carried with him until his final breath. Survivors: Devoted wife of 55 years, Pat Lipper; sons, Chris Lipper and wife, Kristie and their son, Joshua and daughter, Jessica of Frisco, Texas ; Byron Lipper and wife, Jenny, and their sons, William and Sam of Dallas, Texas; sister, Lola (Lipper) Withers of Clinton, MD; and nieces, Patti (Withers) McDorman of Winter Haven, Fla., Judy (Withers) Dickson of Henderson, Tenn., and Beth Withers of Clinton, MD. All are welcome at the Memorial and Burial Service for Don Lipper. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
