More detail on this person: Louis H. "Lou" Jacquay, age 94, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, at Pacifica Senior Living, Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from The University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of General Education Degree in Business Administration and from The University of Southern California with a Master of Science Degree in Systems Management. LTC Jacquay's Army career began in 1950 to include tours in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, the Panama Canal Zone, and numerous stateside assignments retiring 1978 after 28 years of service. Louis, commanded the 336th Assault Helicopter Company (Soc Trang, Vietnam) from October 1966 to March 1967, when he completed his tour and returned to the USA. The 336th Assault Helicopter Company was one of four Assault Helicopter Companies of the 13th Aviation Battalion. During his tour the 336th supported the 21st ARVN Division, Commanded by ARVN General Minh. One of the 336th missions was to provide gun ship and slick helicopter support for combat operations and resupply missions to 21st ARVN Division outposts. The 21st ARVN Headquarters was located at Bac Lieu, Viet Nam's 4th Corps Area. Prior to his departure from Viet Nam, General Minh personally gave him a captured Viet Cong carbine to recognize the support the 336th had provided the 21st ARVN Division. The carbine, a Chinese Type 53 Carbine, a version of the Soviet M1944 Mosin-Nagant carbine had been captured from the Viet Cong sometime during 1966. Louis donated the carbine to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association and is prominently displayed in their "Vietnam Helicopter War Museum." Louis was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Tucson and Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Littleton, Colorado. Mr. Jacquay will be memorialized by cremation and his remains will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery Denver, Colorado. He will join his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharon Lee (Steller) Jacquay who preceded him by death June 9, 2004.
