More detail on this person: Louis Raymond Goeltzenleuchter, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Palm Harbor, Florida, at the age of 86. Born on March 9, 1938, in Montpellier, Ohio. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years. His legacy continues through his devoted youngest daughter, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his cherished parents, his three brothers, and his oldest daughter, whose memories remain a comfort to the family. Louis's life was characterized by service and commitment. At the young age of 18, he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1960. After a series of diverse job experiences, he found his calling in the Army in 1968, becoming a helicopter pilot and serving two tours in Vietnam. His military career was distinguished by his valor and skill, retiring in 1984 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4). Louis's dedication to his country was recognized through numerous commendations, including the Master Aviation Badge, Air Medal with 21 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star with Bronze OLC, Meritorious Unit Citation, and several medals acknowledging his service in Vietnam. Beyond his military career, Louis was a co-founder of the Dry Dock Center, where he offered support and guidance to many, embodying the principles of his long-time friend, Bill W. His wisdom and loving nature made him a beacon of hope and a pillar in his community. Those who knew Louis will remember him for his wise counsel, his gentle strength, and his unwavering commitment to his loved ones and comrades. He was a man who faced life's challenges with courage and grace, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing him. Louis's life will be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends, as they continue to honor his memory through stories of his valor, kindness, and the love he so freely gave. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose and service, and he will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his presence. Louis Raymond Goeltzenleuchter's journey through this world has come to a restful end, but the echoes of his love and the impact of his life will resonate for generations. Celebration of life will be held March 9, 2025. Service begins at 1 o'clock pm. VFW Post 2550, 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL 34698. Food, libations and celebration will follow.
