More detail on this person: It is with quiet sadness that we share the passing of our brother, Buck. His siblings K.C., Smilja "Annie" (Gary), Marian, Teri, Pat, Marylata "Latie" and T.J. (Marlene) mourn his loss with wife of 59 years Chris, son Bucky (Karen), daughters Tasha (Gary) and Dani (Kevin). A private military service was held by the Elton family on November 11, 2024 in Medford, Oregon. Buck was proceeded in death by his father Buck Sr., mother Smilja and grandson Bobby. Buck will be missed by his nephews and nieces: Peter (Annelise), Max (Kate), Ash, Tony, Joe (Briony), Michael, Aaron (Monica), Cole, Sarah, Niki, Veronica and Elysia; grandsons and granddaughters Luke, Chad, Brendon, Brian, Bradley (Molly), Tori (Matt) and Heather (Phillip); great-nephews and great-nieces Noah (Wal), Bruno, Stella, Caitlyn, Melanie, Deya, Bowie, Tommy, Freddie, and Joey; and great-grandsons and great-granddaughter Cameron, Blake, Max and Brooklyn. Our grandmother, Maude Lay Elton wrote a poem in the 1940's for her son Buck Sr. a decorated WWII B-17 Pilot. We find the poem appropriate for her grandson Buck a decorated Vietnam Helicopter Pilot: Greetings For An Aviator One day God searched the earth for lads Whom He could call his comrades. He gave them wings to pierce the sky And sent His blessing from on high. And as the planes went winging through He made the skies a bluer blue; He painted clouds a little whiter And polished stars a little brighter. Upon the wind he laid a song, Into each heart it lingers long; It sings above the engine's hum To calm the fears of what may come. With peace and beauty wrapped in shrouds, Above the snow-white floating clouds, With sun and moon as staff and rod, A lonely pilot pals with God. Our sincere gratitude to those who reached out to us with kind words and condolences. Marian Elton Published by Inyo Register on Nov. 23, 2024.
