More detail on this person: US Army CW4 (Ret) Joseph Lawrence Aubee (b. 1949; Hope, RI) passed away on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 26, at his daughter's home in Arlington, VA. Mr. Aubee was a career soldier and Army aviator who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. An Agent Orange survivor, he was medically retired in 1986 after being diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. He underwent intense, experimental treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center and was reportedly the only survivor in that clinical trial. Mr. Aubee recalled in 1991 and completed his military career as director of the Aviation Learning Center in Fort Rucker, AL. He was honorably discharged in 1994, having earned (among other recognitions) two bronze stars and the Presidential Air Medal. In civilian life, he returned to his family trade as a highly skilled finish carpenter, putting the final touches on numerous commercial and residential projects around Clarksville, TN. Mr. Aubee is survived by his two daughters (Alexandra and Catherine) and their families, including four grandchildren (Ava-Marie, Adler; Cadence, and Isaiah); his seven siblings (Eugene Charles, Claire, Albert Daniel, John Paul, Michael, Thomas, and Mary) and their families; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife (Beatrix Huberta Aubee, 1946-2003) and his parents [Eugene Charles, 1917-2007, and Azilda M (Tremblay), 1922-2015]. Details are forthcoming for a service with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Salvation Army or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
